About The Ellesmere A&P Association

Formed in 1869 the Ellesmere Agricultural & Pastoral Association owns their showground which is situated on the outskirts of the Leeston township, just 30 minutes south west of Christchurch.

The Ellesmere A & P Association is a not for profit organisation and is responsible for organising and staging the Ellesmere A&P Show as well as other activities throughout the year. The Ellesmere A&P Association continues to support and promote New Zealand agricultural excellence and innovation through events, competition and education.

The Association is run by a committee of up to 30 elected members all of whom give their time freely and generously. Some of the Committee Members are second or third generation, with their fathers and grandfathers being active committee members.

The Association employs one part time person to manage the affairs of the Association and a part time caretaker who sees to the grounds and maintenance. Much work is also carried out by active committee members and Past Presidents throughout the year and at show time.
